Rate Limits & Credits

Understand request limits and the credit system.

Rate limits

All rate limits use a sliding 60-second window.

Key typeLimit
Free tier (per key)10 requests / min
Origin-restricted (per IP)60 requests / min

Response headers

Every authenticated response includes rate limit headers:

X-RateLimit-Limit: 10
X-RateLimit-Remaining: 7
X-RateLimit-Reset: 1704067260
  • X-RateLimit-Limit — maximum requests allowed per window
  • X-RateLimit-Remaining — requests remaining in the current window
  • X-RateLimit-Reset — Unix timestamp when the window resets

When you exceed the limit, the API returns 429 with error code rate_limited.

Credits

Device valuations consume credits from your account balance. New accounts start with 1,000 free credits.

EndpointCost
GET /devices/{id}1 credit
POST /devices/batchceil(uniqueDevicesResolved / 10) credits

Batch credit cost is based on the number of unique devices resolved, not the total number of items in the request. Duplicate devices are deduplicated server-side and only counted once.

Checking your balance

Use GET /account to see your credits_remaining, or GET /account/usage for a 30-day breakdown.

When credits are exhausted, the API returns 402 with error code insufficient_credits.
