Device Identifiers

SKU format, Apple model identifiers, and MDM payloads.

The API accepts several identifier formats. All lookups are case-insensitive.

SKU format

Pattern: TYPE-CHIP-[SCREEN-]STORAGE[-RAM][-CONNECTIVITY]

Apple model identifiers

Used in MDM systems (Kandji, Jamf, Mosyle):

IdentifierDevice

mac14,2MacBook Air 13" M2
macbookpro18,1MacBook Pro 16" M1 Pro

Only Apple Silicon devices are supported. Intel Macs return unsupported_model.

MDM payload format

For batch requests, you can pass raw device data from your MDM:

{
  "deviceModelIdentifier": "mac14,2",
  "deviceModelName": "MacBook Air 13-inch (M2)",
  "cpuModelName": "Apple M2",
  "stats": {
    "memoryTotalGB": 8.5,
    "storageTotalGB": 243.8
  },
  "qty": 3
}

The API normalizes reported values to marketing tiers:

  • 243.8 GB → 256GB
  • 8.5 GB → 8GB
  • 494.4 GB → 512GB

This means you can pass device data exactly as your MDM reports it without any preprocessing.

See the MDM integration guide for end-to-end examples with popular MDM platforms.
